Company Background:
General
Dynamics, a Fortune 100 company, has been serving the U.S. government for
more than 50 years. As information technology (IT) has transformed the way
the U.S. military fights and wins wars, so too has IT transformed General
Dynamics. Once primarily known for providing tanks, ships and submarines to
the Department of Defense, today General Dynamics has become a market leader
in mission-critical information systems and technologies to agencies across
the U.S. government and to allied nations around the world. In fact, the
company’s Information Systems & Technology group is the largest and fastest
growing segment of General Dynamics.
General Dynamics Information Technology is one of four business units within
General Dynamics’ Information Systems & Technology group. General Dynamics
Information Technology is a provider of mission-focused IT services to
defense, intelligence and civilian agencies and commercial customers.
In 1999, General Dynamics acquired and integrated three businesses from
GTE's Government Systems group: Communication Systems, Electronic Systems
and Worldwide Telecommunication Systems. These new businesses gave General
Dynamics superb capabilities in information assurance, land communication
and networking, as well as broadened its capabilities in signal processing,
applications and decision support.
In 2001, General Dynamics Worldwide Telecommunication Systems was renamed
General Dynamics Network Systems to better reflect the total suite of IT
services.
In 2003, General Dynamics Network Systems acquired the Information
Technology Services division of Veridian as well as Creative Technology
Incorporated allowing the company to increase its capabilities in network
engineering, integration, software development, operations and technical
consulting.
In 2006, FC Business Systems, Inc. (FCBS) became part of our company. FCBS
added extensive credentials in enterprise network services, including
information assurance and information security, network engineering, and
software application development and integration. The company has achieved
Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model® Integration (SEI
CMMI) Maturity Level 3.
Also in 2006, General Dynamics Network Systems acquired Anteon, a leading IT
services company that provided government customers with the systems
integration, strategy and program management, systems engineering,
operations services, and simulation and training solutions necessary to
manage the development and operations of mission-critical systems.
In 2008, General Dynamics Information Technology acquired ViPS, Inc. from
HLTH Corporation.
